A woman who sent and received 20 texts while driving before hitting and killing another motorist is due to be sentenced today for causing death by dangerous driving.
The introduction of sentencing guidelines last year says drivers who cause death while sending or reading text messages at the wheel can be liable for up to seven years in jail.
But despite this, the number of people texting and driving is still rising.
The Transport Research Laboratory say texting and driving is more dangerous than driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
