EastEnders actor Adam Croasdell has travelled to Malawi For World Vision - find out more

EastEnders star Adam Croasdell has travelled to Malawi to meet the child he's been sponsoring for the past seven years.

The actor, who plays Dr Al Jenkins in the BBC soap opera, arrived in Mpherembe on Tuesday 15th December and spent three days with sixteen-year-old Jacob and his family.

Mpherembe village is part of World Vision's Kayezi Area Development in the north of Malawi.

Area Development Programmes are large geographical areas of a country that can be made up of 100+ villages. World Vision staff work alongside the community there for 12-15 years, or until a point when the community can continue to work their way out of poverty without World Vision's aid.

Changing lives

Adam's money has been invested in Jacob's community, funding HIV and other health projects, providing clean and safe drinking water, helping children access education and funding nutrition and agriculture projects. Many of these projects have benefited Jacob directly.

Adam said of the trip: "I always wanted to support and promote the outstanding and inspiring work of World Vision, even in my own personal more difficult times."

He added: "I have been honoured to be able to get the opportunity to meet Jacob and see for myself first hand one place where all the money and efforts made by the charity to change children's lives actually takes place."

Adam was recently appointed as celebrity ambassador for World Vision.

World Vision is a child-focused, Christian development agency, working with communities in nearly 100 countries to help children and their families overcome poverty.
