Following several dog maulings, which in some cases have left people dead, calls have been made by one council to introduce new canine control orders.
Liverpool council want to introduce "Status Dogs" which would mean dangerous dogs would need a lead and muzzle, with compulsory microchipping. This would be the first move of its kind in the country.
It will help councils identify who these dangerous dogs belong to. It would also enforce some kind of control by making sure owners keep their dogs on leads, and ensure they wear a muzzle.
