The 24 year-old future King of England and his girlfriend Kate Middleton have announced the end of their relationship.
Last month the pair seemed happier than ever when they went skiing in Switzerland, but today, citing media pressure and Prince William's army duties, the pair have said that they are splitting up for good.
Since meeting at St Andrews University in Scotland in 2001 the couple had been under intense media pressure. Kate had recently settled a harrassment case with the Daily Mirror over a close-up picture published by the paper.
Duncan Lancombe, reporting the breaking story for The Sun newspaper, said: "My understanding, from what I've been told, is that William's feeling is he's too young to get married.
"The last person on earth who's going to be pressured by newspaper columnists and television chat shows to get married is Prince William."
