The pop world is coming together on Saturday for a huge outdoor Tsunami Relief Concert at the Milenium Staduim in Cardiff.
Brian McFadden will be one of the artists headlining at the concert in Wales. Other acts include Badly Drawn Boy, Charlotte Church, Craig David, Eric Clapton with Jools Holland and The Rhythm & Blues Orchestra, Embrace, Feeder, Keane, Lemar, The Manic Street Preachers and Snow Patrol.
Special appeal
The special fund-raising event is aimed at raising £1million for stricken families in south-east Asia.
Over 61,000 fans will join the party in the Welsh capital and they will be able to enjoy more than six hours of top flight entertainment and join the rest of the world in raising money for those left with so little after the tsunami disaster on Boxing Day.
How the money will be spent:
- Every £100 raised will buy a tent in which a displaced family can live or pays for emergency food parcels to feed 60 families for one month
- £30 will buy enough water purification tablets to give 320 children a litre each
- £25 will buy plastic shelter and food parcels for two families for two weeks
- £15 will buy a hot meal for 125 people in emergency feeding centres.
The tsunami left over 160,000 dead, more than one third of which were children, and at least 5 million people without food and water. It is estimated that around 3 million are homeless.
All 60,000 tickets originally released for the event at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium on Saturday were snapped up within three days. All profits from the concert will go to the DEC's Tsunami Appeal Fund.
