Alan Mechem has been voted by you as the victor of Sofa Factor! So what lies in store for the budding presenter?
Just under 5,000 people applied for the chance to become a sofa star! We whittled it down to 25 hopefuls who were invited to London to audition for our esteemed judges, GMTV's Richard Arnold, presenter Melanie Sykes and agent to the stars Melanie Cantor.
We met the first 10 last Monday when Richard Arnold set the task of interviewing a Coronation Street actor and then last Thursday we said goodbye to four. This week has seen the finalists face their fears at London Zoo along with a variety of lively presenting tasks, including delivering a difficult weather report from London's South Bank, while the judges whittled down the finalists to just two - Tim Taggart and Alan Mechem.
And the winner is...
Then yesterday we asked you to vote for your favourite finalists and, after over 7,000 of you logged on to gm.tv to cast your votes, Alan is the winner of The Sofa Factor!
What next?
So, what's in store for our Sofa Factor winner? After presenting Pick of the Day on GMTV this morning, Alan will be whisked off to Las Vegas and given an A-List make-over before presenting his own showbiz report.
About Alan...
Twenty-six year-old Alan is a teacher from Essex and had never tried presenting until The Sofa Factor. He lives with his girlfriend in Southend and said before his win: "If I win Sofa Factor it would be a victory for people who always wanted to get into television but never thought they could do it. I'd dreamt of doing this when I was really young but I thought it was impossible so I settled into a life of teaching but this just goes to show it's never too late!
"I just wish everyone could have experienced what I have over the past couple weeks!"
