Broadcaster James Whale has been campaigning to raise awareness about kidney cancer since he was diagnosed with the disease in 2000 - find out about his charity's latest event
It affects almost 7,000 people every year in the UK, which is more than 16 men and women every single day, and yet kidney cancer rarely attracts much public attention.
James Whale, a radio DJ, writer, TV presenter and social commentator, has been campaigning to raise funds and awareness for the disease ever since he recovered from his own bout of kidney cancer - he was diagnosed in 2000.
Britain's Biggest Curry Party
His charity's latest campaign is called Britain's Biggest Curry Party, and is working with high profile Indian restaurants and a host of celebrity guests to hold parties during the week of 19th October to raise funds.
People who want to take part can either attend a party at a local Indian restaurant or host a party at home - click on the link above for more details.
The week officially launches on Sunday at the annual British Curry Awards hosted by Jon Culshaw at London's Grosvenor House Hotel. Whale is a judge of the awards and adores curry.
Local curry houses hosting parties will raise money for the fund by adding a small extra charge to the bill, and people can also host their own curry parties at home.
Contrary to its unhealthy image, many ingredients of curry are actually very good for the body. Spices such as Saffron and Tamarind in particular are good for maintaining healthy kidneys.
With curry being such a British favourite, Britain's Biggest Curry party is a great way of getting people together to support this very important cause.
