Victoria Beckham talks exclusively to GMTV about life in the limelight, living in LA and giving up singing
Read on for the full interview between fashion icon Victoria Beckham and GMTV's Fiona Phillips...
FIONA PHILLIPS: You're on the front of glossy magazines. One weekly glossy in particular – one minute your marriage has got about five minutes left to last, the next week you've got about five minutes left to last because you're too thin. Do you read those things?
VICTORIA BECKHAM: Do you know, I don't. I'm not really aware of it to be honest with you. I think if you pay too much attention to what people say about you. You know, I suppose you'd be an uncontrollable big head one minute and then you know, you'd be off to rehab the next.
FP: And was it great to be out on tour again?
VB: Yeah it was. I love the whole social thing of being back with the girls – it was so much fun. And I loved the kids watching me going, 'Wow! This is what Mummy used to do.' Rather than just moan, you know, 'Do your homework and clean your teeth.'
FP: But that's it now? That's got that out of your system?
VB: I'm not going to sing anymore – I've hung my microphone up.
FP: And do you like the US? You clearly do.
VB: I love it.
FP: Will you stay there do you think?
VB: Yeah, certainly for a while. You know it's a great place to bring up children. It's great for me and my career. You know, David – it's tough the football because it's completely different - but he went there for a reason, he's trying to change the face of soccer in America.
FP: We saw your boys watching David play with LA Galaxy, being looked after Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. Do they often look after the children?
VB: Do you know we go to lots of different things together and they're great and really normal. And people don't want to hear that, people want to hear that people are weird.
FP: And has he asked you to style a new film of his? Is it 'Hard Men' or something?
VB: No, No. I'm not joining the Pussycat Dolls either. I heard about that. The thought of leaping around on the stage in a bra top and knickers! No - and I'm not pregnant.
FP: Well that's three less questions I have to ask you then. You're such a down-to-earth girl. You're funny – everyone who knows you says that - yet still nearly every picture we see of you, you're not smiling.
VB: I know I think that's just the way my face falls. When I do see pictures - sometimes I do think, 'You miserable cow'. But you know, if people like the way I look, great. If they don't, then fine.
