What happened when A-ha's Magne Furuholmen joined GM.TV for a webchat on creepy Friday 13th?
A-ha: Hello everyone - sorry for the delay.... technical issues - too many online. Mom, back off!
A-ha: Greetings earthlings... This is a very lonely space to be in...
Amanda: No question just like to thank the 3 of you for 20 fantastic years of the best music. Cant`t wait for you`re next live gig in england.
A-ha: Finally a - question!!!!
Shimmer: Hiya Magne!! Waghhh - Great to have you back on British soil again! Fantastic news to hear you'll be performing more UK dates in the Spring too - Where in the UK will you be performing?
A-ha: We would however LOVE to do more dates...if the record is well recieved there`s a chance
Sarah: Mags. Obviously you had musical influences before A-HA went big in the 80s. What has been one of the most influencial bands musicians for A-HA over the past 20 years?
A-ha: 60`s stuff - doors, beatles, hendrix - that sort of thing. All the greats. Too many to mention. Elvis is obviously Morten`s 80s hairstyle icon.
Natasja4: What do you think about the music from Coldplay and Keane?
A-ha: I like them a lot - even more for being so supportive. (kiddink) I was blown away by Parachutes, and I still love that record. Keane; Somewhere only we know is a great song. Paul and I went to see Coldplay live in Oslo a few months back. They are great live.
Cass: Hi Mags - a loaded question this one - do you still like the name A-ha?
A-ha: As much as the idea of a third nostril in my bum.
Lesley: Hi!! Did you enjoy working with Flood on the album?
A-ha: Flood`s a great guy - much more of a `proper` Englishman than I expected. His way of mixing was a bit baffling at first - starting with the vocal! I think he really contributed to making the album sound cohesive.
Sarah: You recorded a solo album last year. Was it strange to work outside of A-ha?
A-ha: No - felt quite natural - it`s not as if we sit and do nothing when we`re not together, so I`m used to working on my own. The best part of it was to sing my own songs for the first time. Scary too - no excuses, no-one to blame.
Clairey: Hi, I'd really like a copy of your biography - the swing of things, but the english versions are no longer available. Will any more be printed and where can I get hold of one?
A-ha: dunno
Lesley: Does success to you depend on chart success?
A-ha: There are other forms of gratifications but people always expect A-ha to have some kind of chart success - when you`ve made an album you always want it to be heard, so you try.
Moz: If you were holding a dinner party and could each bring one person from history (living or not) who would that be?
A-ha: difficult question...all the more worrying is the fact that I am taking it very seriously
allenAngel: There´s so much I´d wish to ask but i chose this one:Is it possible that "Minor Key Sonata" is somehow the original a-ha song and "Analogue (All I want)" more the kind of more catchy (chart-suitable) version of Max Martin and Michael Ilbert?
A-ha: hey - I wasn`t done with the last one yet
A-ha: Oscar wilde would be my one person from history.
A-ha: Analogue happened in different stages...the first one was done in Oslo and then paul decided to go to sweden on his own to embellish it with Max Martin
M1ssymalibu: My boyfriend is in the UK A-ha tribute band. Does it offend you when people imitate you or do you appreciate the recognition?
A-ha: Are you kidding? If they`re good maybe they could tour FOR us...;-)
Alison: How do you feel about Celice being used in the Da Vinci Code?
A-ha: I don`t really know if it will or if that is a rumour - either way , I did not write it for the movie - just used the idea of the cilice as a way of portraying a relationship. What happened was that the person in charge of music for the film heard the song and liked it - we`ll see.
Magne: I changed my name to Magne Furuholmen in 1989!
A-ha: Good luck getting your name spelled right in hotels around the world!
Elodie: Hi Mags - What is the last book you read? and did you like it?
A-ha: I am reading Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim by David Sedaris - it`s ok. I recently read Lunar Park by Brett Easton Ellis which was good.
juls: You also work as a visual artist. Which artists have been the greatest influence on you?
A-ha: I take whatever I can use from anyone and everyone.
noel: Can you wish my wife, Karen, a happy birthday for the 21st please...thank you (a long suffering husband!)
A-ha: Why suffering?? Karen - Happy Birthday! And put your husband out of his misery.
dimps: What are your hopes for A-ha in 2006?
A-ha: Peace, love and understanding
Gillybobs: How did you feel about your video for Take on Me being voted the third most popular ever?
A-ha: Very disappointed...who was 1 & 2?
lindajane: hiya! how does releasing a single in 2006 compare with the 80's?
A-ha: The same just different.
Sam C: What is your secret for staying so gorgeous and fit? My friends and I have fancied you all for 25 years!
A-ha: She is a sicko! goddnight folks! Happy friday the 13th everyone ;-)
