Find out how you can save lives by carrying a donor card and by signing up online
To mark World Health Day, 21 year-old kidney transplant recipient Holly Shaw is launching a campaign to recruit more donors across the country.
She's called it Donor Day and she hopes it will persuade some of the 75% of the population who are not on the register to sign up.
In October last year, Holly received a kidney transplant and she is determined to use her new found freedom to promote the plight of others on the waiting list. This year 1000 people will die whilst waiting for a transplant.
Holly said: "The Gift of Life campaign aims to raise awareness of the importance of organ donation, to promote the benefits of signing up, and create discussion and debate around the issue. Ultimately, I want Donor Day to succeed in saving lives by getting more people to sign the Organ Donor Register."
"Signing the Organ Donor Register is free, it takes two minutes, and it could save someone's life. My life was changed because someone made that decision. I hope others will do the same.
