The nature of deals is they move fast - prices, terms and stocks levels can change rapidly – even as Martin's on the programme (and this note dates to then) as so many people check them out. So go quickly, always double check before spending or making a special trip, and check the terms and conditions.
Get paid up to £8 to check your credit file
Both Equifax and Experian offer free trials of their £70-a-year credit watch services. So you can sign up, get your credit file instantly, then call up to cancel the service (otherwise the direct debit will start coming from your account after month one).
Yet currently sign up via cashback website Topcashback and it'll give you £8 for Equifax, or 50p for signing up to Experian's free trial. With cashback websites, while they usually pay out, it's never 100% guaranteed. Even so, as the trials are free that's not an issue – and its crucial to check there are no errors on your file.
Free £10 eye test at Tesco
There's a voucher inside the current Tesco magazine for a free eye test (usual cost £10) at any of its England and Wales stores with opticians.
Free BT line installation
Line installation with BT is usually a hefty £124.99; however, there's a promotion on currently that'll let you get it for free for new lines, reconnections or second lines. To get it, call 0800 800 150 and specifically ask for the 'New line free connection offer' before Sunday 31 January.
