Valentine's restaurant vouchers, uncover lost £1,000's, and flog CDs & DVDs the easy way. These are money-saving expert Martin Lewis' Deals of the Week.

Lost assets

Billions of pounds of unclaimed financial assets in the UK lie in old bank accounts, pensions, life assurance and investments – yet most are easy to reclaim. So whether the account's your own or an inheritance from a deceased relative, it's worth spending ten minutes as you could have a treasure chest of £1,000s, or more!

Most importantly there's no need to pay a penny to do this. A host of websites set up by the official bodies like the British Bankers Association, the pension service or the association of investment companies make it easy.

Simply go to the site, and fill in the details of the account you're looking for, don't worry if you don't have full information just put in as much as you've got. If the money belonged to a relative who passed away, you'll be asked to prove via will or letter that you are the rightful beneficiary.

For full details and links see the 'Reclaim Lost Assets' note in the useful links section.

Quickly flog CDs and DVDs for £3

The website Music Magpie allows you to convert all your unwanted CDs, DVDs, or Games into cash. All you do is type in details of your CDs & DVDs, and it'll give you an instant cash price, though you need to trade in a minimum of 5 at a time (and up to 500!).

If you accept its offer, it'll send postage-paid bags to dunk them in and you'll get cash upon receipt. Someone with loads to get rid of could speedily make money this way.

How much? It depends on the CD of course, most CDs will get you 60p-70p though some go for over £1. DVDs go up to £3.

Valentines 2for1 Restaurant Vouchers

Restaurants know Valentine's Day is busy, so all but one of the major chains ensure their vouchers don't work that day. Yet why not head out on Friday night and see midnight in, or delay until Sunday, then there are scores of vouchers you can use to get a cut price meal.

These include GBK, Tootsies, Pizza Express, Cafe Uno and scores more. For the full list of current vouchers to click and print see the useful links section.
