Meet GMTV newsreader and presenter Helen Fospero who was once our US correspondent in New York
GMTV newsreader Helen Fospero joined GMTV in September 1997 as the breakfast TV station's showbiz correspondent. In March 2000 she moved to New York to become GMTV's US correspondent.
During her time at GMTV, Helen interviewed many showbiz stars including Elton John, Michael Douglas, Luther Vandross, Gary Oldman, Samuel L Jackson and Robert Redford. Helen also provided live coverage of the September 11th terrorist attacks in New York.
Helen left school at 18 with 9 O'levels and 3 A'levels. She worked as a journalist on local newspapers in Lincolnshire whilst gaining NCTJ qualifications. At 20 she left Grimsby to work as a reporter for a London-based news agency.
In 1988, she joined Sky News as a reporter and she was later promoted to News Editor, before presenting news bulletins including 'Sunrise' and 'Live at Five'.
In September 1995, Helen was appointed Sky News Showbiz Correspondent, covering cinema, theatre and music stories for the 24 hour news channel.
During her time at Sky, Helen interviewed some of Hollywood's greatest stars including Madonna, Tom Hanks, Jon Bon Jovi, Al Pacino and Charlton Heston. She was also a regular contributor to Sky One's 'Showbiz Weekly' programme.
In 2002, Helen fronted the BBC regional news magazine programme, 'Look North', before presenting BBC London News, and then joining Five News and Sky News. Helen rejoined GMTV in September 2009 as a newsreader.
Helen lives in London with her family. She is a keen snow and water skier, a self-confessed shopaholic
