Ben Shephard joined GMTV as a presenter in 2000
Ben Shephard co-presents GMTV (Mondays, Tuesdays, and alternate Wednesdays 7.00am – 8.35am) with Kate Garraway.
Ben was born on 11th December 1974 in Essex. He studied for a degree in Dance, Drama and Theatre Arts at Birmingham University, where he achieved a 2:1 BA Honours degree. Ben has played for both the South East England's Under 16 and Under 18 football teams, and for the Senior Eastern Counties rugby team.
Ben has worked for numerous TV production companies, including Carlton and Planet 24, and has travelled solo around the world. Whilst travelling, he spent some time in France, utilising his fluent French and his wine tasting training by working in a French wine chateau.
Ben got his first TV break in March 1998 when he hosted Channel 4's 'Control Freaks' – a preview of the week's teen TV output. In May 1998, Ben joined 'The Bigger Breakfast', co-presenting during the school holidays with both Melanie Sykes and Josie D'Arby.
From October 1998, Ben presented Channel 4's prime time Sunday morning show, 'T4'. In this role he interviewed a host of celebrities including The Spice Girls, Hugh Grant, Barbara Windsor, The Charlatans and members of the Manchester United squad. In September 1999, Ben joined ITV2's magazine show, 'Bedrock'.
Ben has presented BBC's 'EastEnders Revealed' and Channel 4's 'Planet Pop', and has also co-presented 'MTV Select' with Kelly Brook and Channel 5's entertainment news show, 'Exclusive' with Lisa Rogers.
In addition to presenting `GMTV` Ben has fronted the station's week-long fitness/lifestyle series – 'Inch-loss Beach' from Spain in 2003 and took a road trip from San Francisco to LA in 'Ben's Road to Hollywood'. Ben presented the ITV2 show 'The Xtra Factor', in 2004, 2005 and 2006. He has taken part in two series of Sky One's 'The Match' and hosted ITV1's Saturday night prime time show, 'Who Dares, Sings!', alongside Denise Van Outen. Ben currently hosts his own breakfast radio show on Saturdays on Magic FM, and a weekly show on Heat Radio. In 2009 Ben fronted the revitalised 1980s gameshow The Krypton Factor.
Ben liveswith his wife Annie and baby Samuel. (born May 2005) Ben's second child Jack James, was born on January 24th 2007.
