Marcella Whittingdale joined GMTV in August 2007 as a reporter/producer.

Marcella was born in Guildford, Surrey and grew up in a small village called Wadhurst near Tunbridge Wells.

After completing her A-levels in Latin, Greek, English and General Studies, Marcella began a four year degree in Classics at Edinburgh University. Whilst studying, she also became involved in acting and often performed at the University Theatre, 'Bedlam'. Having completed her degree, Marcella took a Post Graduate course in Broadcast Journalism at Falmouth College of Arts.

Marcella's first job in broadcasting was in 1999, working for NTL. She presented their fashion programme 'Labelled' and the music programme 'Sound'. She then briefly worked at STAR FM in 2001 as reporter and breakfast newsreader. In 2002 Marcella moved to Meridian TV, working for six months as a researcher, then transferring to reporting and presenting roles. She presented Meridian Tonight and in 2004, co-hosted Meridian's half-hour current affairs programme 'The Big Story'.

Marcella is involved in promoting vocational learning and hosts the annual Further Education Awards in Sussex. In 2008 she completed the ten-mile Great South Run, which she ran in aid of National Children's Homes.

In September 2008, Marcella reported for GMTV from London Fashion Week, where she gained an exclusive interview with supermodel Naomi Campbell. At the White Ribbon Fashion Show, Marcella enjoyed talking to some famous faces backstage – including Ronan Keating, Jamelia, Mischa Barton and Cilla Black. In September 2009 Marcella took over the role of GMTV's Northern Correspondent (covering maternity leave).

Marcella lives in Brighton with her husband Pete. She loves visiting the local bars, clubs and restaurants, and has a real passion for gardening.
