Jonathan Swain is Senior Correspondent who has travelled the world extensively to bring some of the biggest news stories to GMTV viewers.

Jonathan Swain joined GMTV in 2001 as a reporter.

Born in 1973 in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, Jonathon graduated from Christ Church Kent University where he studied Geography specialising in the politics of the Middle East and The Balkans.

Jonathan's broadcasting career began while still at school when he read the football and racing results for BBC local radio in Coventry. His radio career quickly developed and while at university he combined studying with regular reporting shifts for BBC Radio Kent. In addition to working for the Saturday sports programme covering local football matches, Jonathan presented a weekly news review programme.

After graduating from university Jonathan was offered a job as a reporter for Westcounty Television, based in the North Devon Bureau. At 21 Jonathan became a regular presenter for the local evening news bulletins.

In 1997 Jonathan joined Central Television as a reporter and presenter. He regularly presented the main evening news programme from the studios in Abingdon. During his time Central Television Jonathan travelled to Holland to carry out a special investigation into a bogus doctor, produced and presented a special feature from Paris about the launch of the new Mini and was a key live reporter during the foot and mouth crisis.

While working at Central, Jonathan also worked for 2 years as a freelance reporter for ITN and the BBC, where he was one of the first reporters at the scene of the Paddington Rail crash and interviewed many leading politicians.

Jonathan joined GMTV in the summer of 2001 and has covered a wide variety of stories. These include major international events such as the tsunami in Asia, the Madrid bombings, and the terrorist attacks in London and Glasgow. In 2003 Jonathan covered the Gulf War where he traveled across the Middle East alone, reporting live as the Americans arrived in Baghdad. In August 2006 he was embedded with the RAF as he covered the progress of British troops in Afghanistan. Since May 2007, Jonathan has also spent many months in Portugal covering the Madeleine McCann disappearance, and has travelled across Europe and Africa following possible sightings.

Jonathan lives in London with his family. He is a sports fan who likes to keep fit by playing tennis regularly and is a very keen skier
