Award-winning journalist Carla Romano is GMTV's LA correspondent

Carla Romano is GMTV`s LA Correspondent. She joined the breakfast TV station as a correspondent/newsreader on February 21st 2000.

Born in 1969, Carla studied French and politics at Dundee University, before completing a postgraduate diploma in journalism at the University of Strathclyde.

She began her broadcasting career in February 1996 at BBC Radio 5 Live, where she spent five months as a producer and reporter on the cultural identity documentary series 'British Like Me'. She later produced 'A Degree of Desperation'; a half-hour programme on student prostitution, which was subsequently nominated for a Sony Award.

During 1997, Carla worked as a reporter on two of BBC Radio Scotland's weekly current affairs programmes: 'Eye To Eye' and 'Newsweek'. She was also a producer on BBC Radio 5 Live's four-part animal trade documentary series 'Beastly Business', and a producer/reporter on a three-part documentary series for BBC Radio Scotland, looking at the problem of racism in Scotland.

Carla made the move to television at the end of 1997, when she joined BBC Scotland's news programme 'Reporting Scotland', regularly presenting breakfast, late night and weekend news bulletins.She has also worked on a regular basis as a Scottish correspondent for BBC News 24, reporting and producing live items of Scottish news for the network.

Carla`s duties at GMTV have included stand-in presenter for the `News Hour` and newsreader. She has also presented a number of series for the station and has taken part in GMTV`s annual travel programme - `Great Escapes`, presented the popular exercise and diet series, `Inch-Loss Island` and the interactive home makeover series, `Hand Over Your House!`.

In March 2005, Carla became GMTV's LA Correspondent. Delivering stateside celebrity news every morning, Carla has interviewed some of the biggest names in Hollywood, including George Clooney, Johnny Depp, Angelina Jolie, Will Smith, Justin Timberlake and Nicole Kidman.
