Matt Arnold is a GMTV Correspondent
Matt Arnold joined GMTV in July 2003 as the station's Northern Correspondent and moved to join the London based team four years later in 2007.
Born in Londonderry, Matt moved around with his family, who were in the services, before going to Gresham's Boarding School in Norfolk when he was 13.
After leaving education Matt worked in sales and extensively backpacked around the world before joining the Royal Navy in 1986 as a Aircrew Officer and flew in Lynx Helicopters.
Upon leaving the Navy, in 1991, Matt decided to pursue a career in television and worked as a runner on the ITV daytime quiz show 'Talk About', before completing a full time course in journalism at Highbury College in Hants.
With his experience flying helicopters and his newly gained journalistic qualification Matt secured a job with Capital Radio's notorious 'Flying Eye' in 1993, where he navigated Londoners through traffic for two years. In 1995 Matt left Capital when Janet Street-Porter picked him out to be one of the original presenters on the first national cable TV channel, 'Live TV', where he covered a variety of showbiz and sport stories, and interviewed big name stars such as Arnold Schwarzenegger.
1996 marked the beginning of a regular relationship at HTV in Bristol where he joined the company as a sports presenter and after three years was promoted to news presenter and also worked on various documentaries and magazine shows.
With experience of sports presenting under his belt Matt became a sports reporter at SKY News and covering many sports events includingEuro 2000.
In 2002 Matt presented a special two-part documentary on the Glastonbury Festival for ITV1.
During his time as a presenter and reporter Matt has interviewed a host of celebrities including David Beckham, Sir Elton John and Buzz Aldrin. As well as regularly appearing on camera, Matt often shoots and edits his own reports for GMTV.
Matt's hobbies include singing in a band called The Intelligence Men, and he has released two attempts at one hit wonders with his band! He's also a sports enthusiast and has a passion for travelling.
He is married and lives with his wife Dominique and their three children in Surrey.
